We were all a part of making history in 2018 – we elected, for only the second time in our State history, a Republican Governor!
But the electoral results were not everything that we had hoped and worked so hard for!
Did we take our collective balls and go home? NO!!! Republican women are made of much stronger stuff!
So we kicked off 2019 with our annual Leadership Conference with women from all across the State coming together to get back to our basics! On Red Scarf Day, we broke our attendance record from last year as even more “red clad ladies” came together to observe our State Government in action, to meet with their legislators, and to gain a better understanding of how to be a strong advocate for their principles and beliefs.
Our dedicated Delegates and Senators worked diligently to try to stem the tide of increasingly progressive legislation brought before the General Assembly. But it was the first of four very left-leaning years, I believe.
Having sent our Governor back to Government House for 4 more years, our 5th Annual First Lady’s Luncheon will continue the tradition of providing a fabulous event showcasing one our State’s most beautiful jewels, our First Lady Yumi Hogan. This year we are proudly donating 25% of the proceeds from this event to the First Lady’s own foundation, Yumi C.A.R.E.S (Children’s Art for Recovery, Empowerment, and Strength)!
We opened a Virtual Club this year – welcoming members from all across the State. And we are well on our way not only to match our registration numbers from last year but to exceed them in 2019! We may be down but we are certainly not out!! Not in the least!
I look forward to continuing to meet all of you and getting to know you as I complete my second year as President of this amazing organization. I have seen what you can accomplish when you take on a task and I know that together we will make a difference!
May this year bring you many blessings and good fortune! And may we all remember to focus on what we have in common instead of what separates us!!
