We have learned that the Sanctuary Legislation has been gutted to make it more palatable to the Senators on the fence. However, poison, even a little bit, is still poison!! We are urging you to send emails to the following Senators in advance of the bill going to the floor for a vote. Please do so asap!!
The SUBJECT line on the message that is sent should simply read: “VOTE NO ON SB835”
edward.kasemeyer@senate.state.md.us; james.degrange@senate.state.md.us; thomas.mcclain.middleton@senate.state.md.us; john.astle@senate.state.md.us; thomas.v.mike.miller@senate.state.md.us

Dear Senators,
I urge you to vote AGAINST SB 835/HB 1362. This is DANGEROUS legislation that will put ALL MARYLAND citizens at risk. It is a patchwork of legal slight-of-hand that claims to promote enforcement of laws when in fact, it does just the opposite.
Due to Montgomery County’s de facto sanctuary status, the two alleged rapists — who are here illegally — were not just allowed, but are required by law, if they are living here, to roam the hallways of our public schools like wolves looking to prey on innocent lambs, our children, with the predictable result.
If the relatives of these illegal alleged rapists had not been living here — at least one of whom is ALSO here illegally — the alleged rapists would NOT have been able to reside here under DACA’s requirements. The presence of some people here illegally creates MORE people being here illegally.
This cannot continue !
Any “sanctuary” status allows horrific things, like the rape at Rockville High School to occur, because WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO IS HERE AND IF THEY ARE FLEEING persecution, as they claim, or if they are fleeing PROSECUTION. We. Do. Not. Know !
And we, American citizens have EVERY RIGHT TO KNOW.
SB 835/HB 1362 protects THOSE HERE ILLEGALLY, at the expense of OUR SAFETY, from finding out who they are and what their intentions are BEFORE they commit a horrible crime !! How does that make ANY sense ??
Tragically , it is too late to protect that innocent 14 year old girl in Rockville High School, but it’s not to protect the NEXT 14 year old girl, maybe in a high school in your community.
There is NO GOOD that can come from this legislation for individual Maryland citizens, or for the state of Maryland overall.
Please vote AGAINST SB 835/HB 1362 in any form.
Very sincerely,
