In accordance with the Bylaws of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women (MFRW), Article XII, Section 2, I hereby call the 2021 MFRW Fall Convention (and Fall Board of Directors Meeting) to be held at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleu Hotel in Ocean City, MD (Worcester County) on November 5 – 6, 2021. Friday Registration opens at 2:00PM. Saturday Registration opens at 7:30AM.
The theme for this year’s Fall Convention is “On the Road to 2022”.
From election integrity issues to Critical Race Theory invading our schools, businesses, and lives to the deadly debacle in Afghanistan, our world gets scarier every day! None of us thought that the Biden Administration would be a good thing however I don’t think any of us expected the level of ineptitude we’ve witnessed on an almost daily basis.
All Club Presidents, MFRW Standing and Special Committee Chairs, MFRW Regional Chairs, MFRW Elected officers, and MFRW past presidents who are members of the MFRW are members of the Board of Directors. If you hold one of these positions, attendance at our Fall Convention Board of Directors meetings is required. A Club President may send a proxy to the meeting on her behalf. The proxy must be a full member in good standing of that club.
All members (both full and associate) are welcome and encouraged to attend both the Board of Directors meeting and the General Session of the Convention, as well as all other convention activities.
At this convention, credentialed delegates will be electing officers for the 2022-2023 term. Each club president (of a club in good standing) is automatically awarded one delegate spot. Each club is then awarded one delegate per every 5 members as of June 30, 2021. All club presidents will be sent the number of delegates awarded to their club. I encourage all clubs to send their full delegation in order to have the full strength of their vote!
The tentative schedule is still very much “up in the air” however it will be similar to the last convention. More detailed information will be available as speakers are confirmed. Stay tuned and keep an eye on your Inbox!
Friday Afternoon – Workshop on Election Integrity (possible Bay Club event also)
Friday Evening – Fall Board of Directors Meeting and Welcome Reception.
Saturday Day – Full Breakfast with speaker TBA, the General Session of the Convention, Memorial Service honoring our fallen members, Lunch (speaker TBA), a workshop on Critical Race Theory, and more!
Saturday Evening – A Reception and Dinner featuring NFRW 4th Vice President Martha Jenkins who will also install our new officers.
The General Session will include both familiar speakers as well as some new faces!
Unfortunately, the price of just about everything has gone up since our last convention (mostly thanks to the pandemic) so our Basic Registration (includes all workshops, meetings, lunch, and Friday reception) will be $70 per person. Complete registration including Basic plus Breakfast and the Reception/Dinner is $165 per person. Other options are available as well. (Guest pricing for Friday’s Reception and Saturday Breakfast, Lunch, and the Reception/Dinner is also available). Get your registrations in promptly – all convention registration rates will increase by $20 after 10/23.
Rooms are available both nights for $125 plus taxes per night. Call the hotel at 410-524-3535 to make your reservation. Use code Maryland Federation of Republican Women when making your reservation. Room rate is guaranteed through 10/22/21.
We will be offering our “MFRW Country Store” once again!! So we need your donations, please! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the store, it’s like a VIP Indoor Yard Sale! It’s a great opportunity to buy gifts for the holidays as well as find items you didn’t even realize you needed!! Lots of great “Republican” items will be available as well as a plethora of other unique finds!
To say that the 2020 election didn’t go quite as we expected is a huge understatement! 2020 and 2021 have been one disaster after another. But the 2022 election is just around the corner! And the silver lining to the very dark cloud overhead is that the midterm elections should bring great victories for our Republican candidates! Women made the difference before and WE CAN DO IT AGAIN! Together we can get it done!!
