Jean W. Roesser, former state delegate, state senator and Maryland Secretary of Aging, died on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017. A longtime resident of Potomac, she was the wife of the late Eugene F. Roesser and mother of Eugene F. Roesser, Jr. (wife Lynn), Mary Roesser Calderon (husband, Jorge) and Anne Marie Roesser. She was born in Washington D.C. on May 8, 1930.
I would like to congratulate our beloved Jean Roesser, Pat Shaver and Jane Leeson, for being presented the “PWRC Founding Member Award” at our September 28th General Meeting. They were remembered by a flag flown over the U. S. Capital on Flag Day this year, a certificate commemorating their achievements, and an award by Congressman Andy Harris. As most of you know, all 3 of these ladies have done more for our club than I could possibly state in this letter – a half a century of dedication to the Republican cause and our club – truly inspiring, and we thank them.
Sadly, Jean was called away from us too soon, and her funeral was this past Saturday. But I know she would want you to know how touched and thankful she was by the Founding Member Award. I was able to read the entire presentation to her over the phone and a couple of days later, she received the cards you had signed and her flag. That is our Jean – full of extraordinary grace and beauty. How blessed we are that Jean was a part of our lives and will forever be in our hearts.
