The start of a new year is a great time to look back on the year that just concluded and to look ahead at the year to come.
The year started with a BANG as the year began with the swearing in of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. We did it! We took back the White House!
The members of the MFRW, under the spectacular leadership of President Liz League, continued to be a strong presence in Annapolis and across the State. On Red Scarf Day, an all-time high number of women came together to observe our State Government in action, to meet with their legislators, and to gain a better understanding of how to be a strong advocate for their principles and beliefs.
Our 3rd Annual First Ladies Luncheon continued the tradition of providing a fabulous event showcasing one our State’s most beautiful jewels, our First Lady Yumi Hogan. Thank you to everyone who traveled across the Bay to join us in honoring the First Lady and supporting one of Mrs. Hogan’s favorite charities, Love Works.
Two new local clubs were added over the past year, allowing more women to join the largest political organization in the State of Maryland. And our existing clubs grew in membership and provided greater opportunities for their members in service, training, and activism.
2018 is going to be a year like no other! I hope you will be a part of it as we elect Republicans across the State!
We will continue to elect many more Republicans than Democrats at the local level, we will grow our numbers in the House and add FIVE new State Senators to the Legislature, and we will RE-ELECT GOVERNOR LARRY HOGAN!
We are already hard at work on the 2018 elections – as members of the MFRW you need to step up and take your place in the State Political landscape – run for office, volunteer for campaigns and the State Party, register new voters, and let YOUR VOICES BE HEARD!
I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you as I begin my term as President of this amazing organization. I have seen what you can accomplish when you take on a task and I know that all of you will play a big role in the election successes that we will have this year! But we all need to get to work right away!
May the New Year bring you many blessings and good fortune! And may we all remember to focus on what we have in common instead of what separates us!!
